How did he come back to life?

After three days, his friends found the tomb empty. They had gone to mourn him; they returned with the news that they had seen him alive. They saw him alive on many occasions before he returned to heaven.

But he promised them he would be with them for ever – and so he is.

Whether you believe any or all of this is up to you; but don’t sit on the fence for too long because…

You don’t know what you’re missing!

Why did Jesus die?

He died because – he was hated and envied

He died because – there was no other way

He died because – God loves you and me

He died because people die tragically and needlessly every day – and to show that death is not the end

He died because we’re all desperately in need of God, whoever we are.

How did Jesus die?

It’s a long story, described in detail in the Bible Gospels, but very briefly:

He was handed over to the authorities as a subversive

He was passed on to the army of occupation because only they could authorise his execution

He was interrogated by the governor, who could find no fault in him and tried to have him set free

He was betrayed – by the authorities, his friends and by the people

He was whipped and tortured to weaken and humiliate him

He was made to carry a heavy wooden scaffold pole to the place of execution

He was crucified. Crucifixion was a slow death, intended to humiliate while causing maximum pain. A healthy man would often take three days to die.

Jesus was taken down from the cross and handed to his friends for burial. One of them had donated his own expensive tomb.

Of course, you can watch the movie too – ‘The Passion of the Christ’ pulls no punches, and yes, it really was like that.
